Anti-Virus software is recommended for computer systems more so now than in previous years. With networked
computer systems and email, viruses can spread with extreme speed.
Firewall software is also recommended for all computers that connect to the internet,
even if the connection is dial-up. Many computers were affected by the blaster worm
virus which exploited a vulnerability in Microsoft's Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
When connected to the internet via DSL or Cable, the use of a firewall router can be
used instead of software on the computer. The firewall should be using both NAT and
SPI for being most affective.
